I just returned from 2 weeks in Death Valley assisting the School of Lost Borders with 10 students who were taking stock of their lives during 4 days of solo time. Solitude in the natural world helps one clarify intent and embody new changes. With support from a focused counsel, and using ceremonial introspection, one can more easily cut away what is no longer serving, release old identities and birth oneself into a new paradigm for the next phase of life. Yes.. this does relate to Bodywork for Women's Health!
I trained in this work in the 1980's and it has informed my work as a birth professional and hospice nurse ever since, and is influential in the deeper spirit-healing work I do in Women's Health Bodywork. Life is challenging and as our stresses and traumatic experiences get stored in the body and cellular memory, pain, scar tissue, and dysfunctional movement patterns develop. Offering Women's Health Bodywork allows me to be present with curiosity as clients deepen, settling the mind anxiety and entering body-time, a slow space for listening to the deep wisdom of the body --and the body never lies.
Curiosity and compassion are our companions as we explore the visions and voices of the body that reveal exactly what is needed for healing. Women's Health Bodywork isn't so much about Doing and Fixing, but is all about Being and Listening to the psycho-emotional-physical layers of who we are. When we offer deep respect to the body's 'No's" and "Yes's" it may be the First time that that request has been heeded as it is not uncommon to ignore the voices deep within in an effort "fit in" to social boxes, or "be normal" or give over to someone else's demands. Just this listening and respectful response is incredibly healing itself.
Women's Health Bodywork offers a space and support for clients to hear and heed their own body wisdom, while we work with the tissues, muscles, and energies of women's most vulnerable areas--breast, bellies, wombs, and the sacred yoni gateway (*pelvic floor muscles) into the Temple of our Creativity.
